Dr. Lorewyn Tidewell

Rumored to have studied under ancient mermaid healers, Dr. Lorewyn Tidewell tends to her patients with a blend of science and sea-spun lore. Along with her son Thaddeus and her eccentric team of trusted nurturers and researchers, Dr. Lorewyn leads with compassion and delightfully dry humour. Her presence alone brings a hush of calm to The Soaking Society, where creatures come seeking remedies found nowhere else in the world.

Thaddeus Tidewell

Thaddeus Tidewell, son of Dr. Lorewyn, maps the moods of the ocean itself, recording shifting currents as if taking dictation from the sea. His journals—inked with seawater and illuminated by drifting plankton—guide The Soaking Society in predicting when mythical creatures will surface in need of care.

Augustus The Nanny

Augustus the Nanny is one of the most cherished caretakers in The Soaking Society, known for her serene patience and her uncanny gift for soothing newborn octopuses, tiny cephalopod hatchlings and weary mermaids seeking rest—with a tenderness that feels almost like enchantment.

Veronique

Veronique the Apprentice slipped mysteriously out of one of the Housekeeping Hotel’s enchanted portraits, arriving in The Soaking Society with the quiet confidence of someone who has stepped between worlds before. Dr. Lorewyn Tidewell immediately recognized the shimmer of ancient magic in her presence and took her on as an apprentice.
